Material Knowledge
Use this quick checklist when preparing an OEM sports glove sample. It compares common materials by use and buyer concern, so you can lock the palm, back fabric, lining, padding and trim before issuing a sample brief. For a fuller decision framework by glove zone and product line, see our Sports Glove Material Selection Guide for OEM Buyers.
| Material | Common use | Buyer note |
|---|---|---|
| PU / synthetic leather | Fitness, motorcycle, golf-style and promotional gloves | Flexible for cost control, color options and logo projects. |
| Microfiber / suede | Palm grip, fitness gloves, motorcycle gloves | Good for anti-slip feel and comfortable hand contact. |
| Leather / cowhide | Protective, motorcycle and premium glove styles | Strong hand feel and durability, usually higher cost and stricter MOQ planning. |
| Mesh / lycra | Back fabric for breathable sports gloves | Useful for lightweight comfort, stretch and ventilation. |
| Insulation and lining | Winter sports gloves and cold weather protection | Controls warmth, thickness, fit and seasonal positioning. |
Practical sample checklist
- Confirm palm material, back material, lining, padding, wrist closure and trim before the first sample.
- Ask whether the material is suitable for the target market, use case and expected retail price.
- For small-batch custom orders, avoid changing too many material zones at once.
